2021 Event Cancelled

We have been working hard to plan an event for 2021, and we hoped that we could all celebrate happier times with friends and family.
However, it appears that we are not entirely out of the woods with Covid, and out of concern for the safety and well-being of our volunteers, visitors, vendors and entertainers, we have, with deep regret, made the difficult decision to cancel this year’s event.
It has been extremely difficult to obtain sponsorship, funding and advertising with many local businesses struggling. To keep the Festival free to enter, sponsors are essential.
Please support local businesses over the following year to help them towards financial recovery.
Next years festival will now take place on the 3rd and 4th September 2022. An illuminated parade on the evening of 2nd September to kick it all off. Once again, we will welcome all our wonderful mermaids/mer-folk and bring you the greatest live music, food and crafts, while spreading the word about the importance of marine and wildlife conservation.
The 2021 closing concert, with Peter Knights Gigspanner, will still take place at the Manor Barn on 5th September 2021. Do book early with the Manor Barn for a super evening of music from this brilliant band.
Please continue to “Like” and follow us on Facebook.
We hope that you and your loved ones remain safe and well, and we look forward to seeing you next year.

Latest Information

Due to an unforeseen personal emergency, this year’s Festival of the Sea has had to be cancelled. Sadly, this includes the Mermaid Pageants, Chris Leslie concert and the Craft Marquee. All who have made bookings will receive letters and any payments returned.

The Committee would like to thank Rother District Council, the Town Council, SLM Group and all who have given support to the Sea Festival. This decision has not been taken lightly but is unavoidable. We will be back bigger and brighter than ever.

See you next year! In the meantime, help keep our beaches safe and clean and be kind to wildlife and of course, each other.

The Angling Competitions are still going ahead this year, and more information can be found via the button below.
